![]() ![]() ![]() Can't you create and add-on solely dedicated to informing us about add-on updates: I seriously considered this option for the last few days, but I'm leaning toward saying no as Add-on Updater can take care of this in the meantime and to reduce my involvement with NVDA community through add-ons unless a need arises for me to do something. In the long-term, NV Access and contributors are thinking about overhauling how NVDA and add-on update notifications are shown to users, thereby bringing one major feature from Add-on Updater to the add-on store. ![]() What are some add-on store improvements being worked on or in consideration for future NVDA releases: in a future NVDA release, you will be able to see installed add-ons from available add-ons tab, similar to how purchased and installed apps and content show up in various app stores such as Microsoft Store (Windows 10 and 11), and to some extent, iOS app store and Google Play.Is there evidence supporting what you are saying: yes, the installation message for Add-on Updater 23.09.1/23.09.2 clearly states that you are welcome to use add-on Updater in the meantime despite introduction of add-on store in NVDA 2023.2.Another reason is that it will take a while for folks to get used to using the add-on store to update add-ons, therefore I decided to delay end of support for Add-on Updater until shortly after NVDA 2023.3 stable release. Why the delay in ending support for Add-on Updater (officially): the add-on store introduced in NVDA 2023.2 is the first version of the new store, and work is under way to improve things for future NVDA releases. Is Add-on Updater going out of support: soon, but until then, you are welcome to use Add-on Updater with NVDA 2023.2.Hopefully a note from the add-on author should suffice in clarifying a few points: I am creating this advisory to state, again, "Yes, you can," and to add, "for the moment, you probably should." Here is Joseph Lee's detailed discussion of the state of affairs as of today's date, and what to expect going forward in regard to NVDA and the Add-On Updater add-on: We have had the same basic question, "Can I use Add-On Updater in conjunction with NVDA 2023.2 and its new add-on store?," come up many times in recent weeks. ![]()
